  • ExaDB-D: support for VM Cluster running on a single VM. This feature is intended for Exadata Cloud customers who would like to run single-instance workloads on ExaDB-D without Oralce RAC licensing. Prior to the release of this feature, all ExaDB-D VM Clusters required a minimum of two VMs, and databases running in those VM Clusters were all multi-node RAC. (note - this feature was released in December 2023 for ExaDB-C@C, and is planned for for ExaDB-XS. Oracle Database@Azure is supported now, and Oracle Database@Google Cloud is planned.)

  • PostgreSQL: Flexible Shapes and Vertical Scaling. A flexible shape is a shape that lets you customize the number of OCPUs and the amount of memory for a database system. You can change the shape or hardware configuration of a database system to adapt to changes in performance requirements. For example, you might require a system with more OCPUs or memory, or you might want to reduce costs by reducing the number of OCPUs.
